High-quality, measured data is a critical input for analysis and decision making.
Complete, high-quality data is the heart of wind plant planning and operation. Often a key requirement for financing, the data must be complete and thoroughly documented. Recognizing this need, WindLogics builds careful data review into its wind resource analysis and offers comprehensive data management services.
WindLogics meteorologists evaluate measured data (historical or real-time) to ensure its quality prior to input into any wind resource analysis. This review begins with an automated flagging of questionable data (often the result of instrument damage or data transmission failure). A specially trained meteorologist then reviews these flagged data in combination with any related information to examine and further qualify significant anomalies. Once the data passes this stringent quality review, it is transferred to the wind resource assessment staff for further review and subsequent input into analysis.
In addition to the benefit of accurate inputs for analysis, project developers can use the results of this data review to determine whether their measured data will hold up to banker’s engineer scrutiny, or if additional data collection may be necessary.
In addition to this expert review, WindLogics also provides data management services to proactively maximize data recovery and quality. With this real-time service, met tower data is reviewed daily to identify any failures, alert customers to concerns and avoid significant gaps in the measured data record. This service also provides customers with secure and convenient 24/7 web-based accessibility to their met data, along with secure transmission and storage.
WindLogics currently manages data for over 700 conventional meteorological towers, with methodologies for managing data from emerging technologies, including Lidar and Sodar devices. For more on our OnSite Data Management Services, please see Tower Data Management and Analysis.
